Serial Numbers:

• It appears that all Engelhard 100-ounce silver bars have serial numbers.
• We are guessing that the 6-digit versions with no prefix came first, and went from 000001 through around 350000-400000 (with at least 3 variations).
• We are guessing that the Standard Engelhard Logo version came out next, using the 'C' (first) and 'W' (second) prefixes for early poured versions.
• We are guessing that next came the Standard Engelhard Logo version, in extruded format. These used 'P' and 'S' prefixes (if is unclear why the 'S' was used, and whether it came before or after 'P').
• We are guessing that the Triangle Engelhard Logo version was the last to be produced.
• We estimate a mintage of roughly 1.7 million 100-ounce bars by Engelhard, or about 170 million ounces worth. It is likely that many were melted, as the bulk of the 100 ounce bars makes them more useful for converting into other forms.
• NOTE: There may be duplicate serial numbers (but not of the same design), due to the Triangle Logo 'rolling over' after hitting P999999.
